Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp#Bahamas, January 8, 2017 – Harbour Island – Romora Bay Resort and Marina in tony Harbour Island, the exclusive isle known for its pink sand beaches and multi-million dollar dollhouse cottages, broke its own record with back-to-back record holiday capacity. The marina and boutique hotel located on a sprawling four and a half acres of waterfront just reported its best holiday season ever, topping its own record year of 2016.“Last year, we were absolutely packed and I thought it can’t get any better than this – and then it did,” said Joe Dargavage, General Manager of the Harbour Island hotspot with its popular marina, two restaurants and family friendly atmosphere. “We had more superyachts than we have ever had in our history along with sportsfish and smaller pleasure craft. We had vessels that came from all over the U.S., the Caribbean and the Med. Folks, many of whom had been here before and some for the first time, had a ball. I don’t think there was anyone who did not know nearly everyone by the time they left. It was just a lot of fun throughout the holidays.” That “lot of fun,” as Dargavage put it, culminated in a New Year’s Eve party that was kid- and boater-friendly with a five-course meal, live music, a festival atmosphere and Junkanoo. And, said Dargavage, it “ended early enough for everyone to go into town for the New Year’s party that Harbour Island is famous for.”While the holiday season was marked by good times, good cheer and good friends, Dargavage says there is greater reason for celebration ahead. He called the response particularly reassuring after weather events in the region.“After an active hurricane season, yachts, megayachts and superyachts have been filling the marinas throughout The Bahamas,” he said. “That is a very good sign for all of us in the industry as well as the businesses that serve the boating and marina industry. For us at Romora Bay, the holiday season was a great springboard for the coming year and with our new restaurant offerings and still being the only place with live music three times a week, 2018 is off to a great start and looks like an exciting year.”According to Dargavage, an uptick in the economy, growing confidence in The Bahamas and the increasing desirability of Family Islands represent a trend that is also impacting property values.“Last year, 2017, was one of the best years in the island’s history for property sales in number of transactions and in property value.” That, he said, despite property values on the tiny 3-mile long island already being among the highest in the region with a 2-bedroom, 1,200-foot cottage easily commanding a $1.5 million price tag.“There is a trickle-down effect psychologically. As places like Albany and BahaMar come on stream, there is a perception The Bahamas is the place for the well-to-do and those who want to be where the well-to-do who could afford anything,” said Dargavage. “Harbour Island has something for everyone. It’s friendly, it’s quaint and it has an understated luxury so it really appeals to A-listers who want the exclusivity knowing it is an island where no one gawks and no one talks.” Related Items:

Kolkata: In a major success of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s “Direct Land Purchase Policy”, the Bengal government has become successful in purchasing 19 acres of land in South 24-Parganas, the highest in the state so far, with the consent of 229 landowners.Banerjee, who had fought for the rights of farmers in Singur where 997 acres of agricultural land was acquired to set up Tata’s small car factory, has assured that her government will never go for “forcible acquisition of land” and the Direct Land Purchase Policy was introduced enabling the government to purchase plots directly from its owners with their consent to develop “infrastructure including roads, railways, bridges, food godowns, drinking water, flood protection works and other similar projects”. Also Read – Heavy rain hits traffic, flightsThe direct purchase of 19 acres of land at Gosaba and Gadkhali in South 24-Parganas has been done only after getting the consent from 229 landowners and is a “great success of the land purchase committee headed by the District Magistrate” when there has been a lot of trouble over setting up of power grid sub-station at Bhangar in the same district. The land has been purchased by the state government through the district authorities to ensure completion of the construction of a bridge over river Bidya connecting Gadkhali and Gasaba Bazar. A portion of the purchased land in Gadkhali while remaining part of the 19 acres is on the other side of the river at Gasaba Bazar. Construction of the bridge is a major project as it will ensure road connectivity with islands in the Sunderbans and the mainland. The landowners have been provided with very lucrative money even though their lands were located in such a remote area. The officials have approached the landowners and explained in detail the need of the land in that location. According to an official, the landowners have realised that construction of the bridge is essential for the development of the region that would ensure connectivity with the mainland and at the same time also ensure economic development of the area. “The landowners were given sufficient time to take their decision after explaining the purpose behind purchasing the same. Finally, they were convinced and the consent letter was obtained from 229 landowners,” the official said adding that this is for the first time when 19 acres of land has been directly purchased. The official further explained that the Direct Land Purchase Police is effective in terms of completion of projects as it used to get delayed for non-availability of “small parcels of land”. It helped in the timely completion of projects and proper utilisation of the “public funds”.
If you create web applications as a profession then you would be definitely needing an auditing tool to check what works and what doesn’t in your app. Google Lighthouse is one such tool. It saves a lot of time for you to assess your website’s performance and make it better. You can simply put any URL into Google Lighthouse, (with proper permissions of course) and it will audit it for performance issues and will create a separate report for each issue with ways to rectify it. You can use Lighthouse from the chrome dev tools or you can use it with npn tools as well. Google has announced the release of Lighthouse version 3 in the latest Google I/O conference. The new features of Lighthouse are mentioned below: Lighthouse 3 comes equipped with a new audit engine called Lantern. This helps in improved audits and also minimizes the variance between different audits. The reason for improved audits is that Lantern runs the audits in the same CPU and network environments and simulates the app performance in a regular environment. Lighthouse comes now with a new and improved UI that helps developers to better understand the issues related to their apps and take actionable insights from it. Image Courtesy: Google Uniformity of operation: Both the CLI based version as well as the Node.js version have the same set of controls so that it’s easier to use and less confusing for different sets of developers. Lighthouse has changed their scoring model which now considers 50 out of 100 score as 75 percentile. They have made it systematically harder to achieve the perfect score making the testing and auditing process much more stringent. 4 new audit types have been introduced. The first shows the time to load the first image or text, the second shows the validity of the robots.txt file. The third test shows ways to change videos to gifs and still preserve the video tag to improve the load time. The fourth test enables links to preload before the website loads. The final report is now distributed into three parts to facilitate the developer’s understanding of the scenario and improve the performance. These are the 1hr report which reports the results of the audit, the artifacts property report which includes the data collected from Chrome, and the final report includes the formatted report HTML/JSON/CSV as a string. Will these changes impact the way you develop your apps and make them fare better in the crowd? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section. He did not answer directly when asked if the measures were prompted by a specific threat.“We take all the necessary precautions to make sure that Canadians are kept safe in all of their activities, both within the country and travel around the world,” he said.“We don’t take steps in a capricious way. Canadians need to be assured that everything that needs to be done to safeguard their safety and the safety of air travel is in fact being done.” Posted by Wednesday, April 12, 2017 The Canadian Press New security measures announced for some Canada-bound flights, but that’s all we know << Previous PostNext Post>>
