first_img− accused to stand trial in the High CourtChristopher Stanley, 20, of Rosemary Lane, Tiger Bay, Georgetown, who allegedly stabbed Owen Browne to death on August 29, 2015, was on Friday sentenced by Magistrate Judy Latchman to stand trial in the highDead: Owen Brownecourt.This was the ruling when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. Debby Chase and William Boyd were the two final witnesses to testify in the ongoing trial. It was after their testimonies were heard that the Magistrate declared that a prima facie case was made out against the defendant and as such he will stand trial in the high court for the offence of murder. On August 29 last year, he stabbed Browne, also called “Rasta man” while he was asleep in his bed. Prior to the stabbing, he attacked another resident with a knife and killed a cat, and just hours before he committed that act he was seen sharpening a knife. It was reported that the man started acting in a strange manner and accused persons of supplying his mother with drugs.At around 18:15h on the day in question, he reportedly entered the shack of the victim and stabbed him. The victim awoke and screamed for assistance.His daughter, Tawana Clark, came to his assistance but found the man, who she described as “possessed”, stabbing at her father.Stanley then leaped off of the man and tried to escape but was caught and taken to the Brickdam Police Station.He was subsequently sent to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Georgetown Hospital as he was said to have sustained injuries in the process of killing Bowne.last_img read more
