News story: Schools to go Green for Grenfell

first_img Contact form https://forms.communit… Sandra Ruiz, from Grenfell United, said: The Grenfell fire was an unimaginable tragedy and as we approach one year since that terrible day, it will be a time to reflect and to remember. I am pleased we are able to support Grenfell United and the community in promoting this important day. Green for Grenfell Day is an opportunity to celebrate community spirit up and down the country. In the days after the fire, a community of volunteers surrounded us and helped us through the most difficult of times. If there is to be a positive legacy from this tragedy, we hope it is that we celebrate and emulate here in North Kensington, and across the country, the community spirit that we saw in the days, weeks and months after the fire. We hope communities and schools will get behind it and it will bring good to people around the country. Anything that brings your community together is what Green for Grenfell Day is all about, that could be wearing green to school, planting trees, painting a community area, holding a coffee morning, anything that celebrates community. We hope people will join with us to make this a special and positive day. The government is supporting the event, organised by Grenfell United, which is designed to celebrate a spirit of unity and collaboration. The event will reflect how the community around the Tower and all over the UK came together to help after the tragedy last year. The Grenfell community would like as many schools and community groups as possible to wear something green, fundraise for local causes and share their stories, photos and projects from the day on social media using the hashtag #GreenForGrenfellDay.To help as many schools as possible get involved with this event, the government has supported the community in producing a schools information pack, available to download at www.grenfellunited.org/current-campaigns/green-for-grenfell.It includes information about the day with ideas on how people can get involved, a poster to display in schools, and a template letter that schools can send to parents to encourage children and their families to take part.Secretary of State for Housing the Rt Hon James Brokenshire MP said: If your enquiry is related to COVID-19 please check our guidance page first before you contact us – https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-local-government.If you still need to contact us please use the contact form above to get in touch, because of coronavirus (COVID-19). Why Technology Comes Last

first_imgIn The Only Sales Guide You’ll Ever Need, I wrote about possessing the right mindset, skill sets, and tool kits, but I didn’t emphasize how important is to get these things in the right order. The mindset comes first. Before anything else, you must have the right beliefs and attitudes, as well as all of the behaviors that result from possessing them. This is about who you are at your core. If you want to be a person of influence, things like character and integrity matter a great deal. You have to be the kind of person with whom other people want to do business. You bolt the skills on top of this foundation. What makes the skills work is the person who possesses them. It means nothing to know how to gain commitments if you are not the kind of person that people trust with their business. The activation of skills like presenting, negotiating, and managing change are only as valuable as the person who possess them. Skills in the hands of someone who lacks the character traits to make them work is an exercise in futility. With the mindset and the skill sets in good order, tools can be a force multiplier. The technology can help people produce better results, and in the right hands, it does. What good is a CRM in the hands of someone who lacks the discipline to keep records of their most important possession, namely their relationship. How does email help the person who chooses to hide behind it because they seek to avoid the conflict that is part of doing business? How do the social tools help someone who doesn’t have the business acumen—or the will—to become a peer, someone their clients look to for advice?Right now, because we are in the very early phases of a technological transformation to match the transformation that led us into the Industrial Age, there is propensity for companies to weight their bias towards improving sales by leveraging technologies. And there are many technologies that are worth considering. But to put technology first in the order in which you need to make improvements when it comes to generating business results is to get things exactly backwards. The Air Force Colonel, John Boyd, used to admonish the United States Military with this idea: “People. Ideas. Technology. In that order.” Boyd was right then, and he is right now. Essential Reading! Get my 2nd book: The Lost Art of Closing “In The Lost Art of Closing, Anthony proves that the final commitment can actually be one of the easiest parts of the sales process—if you’ve set it up properly with other commitments that have to happen long before the close. The key is to lead customers through a series of necessary steps designed to prevent a purchase stall.” Buy Nowlast_img read more

India slams Pak for raising Kashmir during Speakers meet in Maldives

first_imgNEW DELHI: A heated exchange broke out between Indian and Pakistani representatives in Maldives Parliament on Sunday after the neighboring country’s delegation veered off topic during a debate on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to raise the issue of Kashmir. Addressing the 4th South Asian Speakers’ Summit, Pakistan deputy speaker Qasim Suri tried to use the platform to talk about the Kashmir situation following the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to the state. Also Read – Uddhav bats for ‘Sena CM’In a swift intervention, Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker Harivansh Narayan Singh said that a country which perpetrated genocide in Bangladesh in 1971 and illegally occupied Azad Kashmir has no moral right to raise these issues internationally. “We strongly object to the raising of internal matters of India at this forum. We also reject the politicization of this forum by raising issues which are extraneous to the theme of this summit,” he said. Continuing his tirade amid strong protests from the Pakistani side, Singh said that Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is neither a country nor a province yet it is being governed through a Prime Minister, President and a legislature. Also Read – Farooq demands unconditional release of all detainees in J&KSingh added that the forum is only meant to discuss SDGs and the issues raised by Pakistan should not be part of the proceedings. The Indian delegation in the summit is led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Tensions between India and Pakistan spiked after India abrogated provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcated it into two Union Territories. Pakistan has been trying to raise the issue at various international fora, but India has maintained that it is an internal matter.last_img read more

IRDAI seeks proposal from LIC on IDBI Bank stake reduction

first_imgNew Delhi: Insurance regulator IRDAI Monday said it has sought proposal from Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) for paring its shareholding in the recently acquired controlling stake in IDBI Bank. Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) stipulates that insurers are allowed to hold only up to 15 per cent stake in any listed entity. But LIC, with a special dispensation from IRDAI, holds more than the limit in some state-run banks. We are not leaving it to them. I have asked them (LIC) to give a proposal and after that we will take a decision,” IRDAI Chairman Subhash Chandra Khuntia said on the sidelines of an event organised by Ficci here. Last June, IRDAI permitted LIC to acquire up to 51 per cent stake in debt-ridden IDBI Bank. On December 28, LIC pumped Rs 14,500 crore into the bank as part of its takeover, following which it injected another Rs 5,030 crore on January 21. For the third quarter ended December 2018, IDBI Bank reported widening of loss by nearly threefold to Rs 4,185.48 crore. The bank had reported a loss of Rs 1,524.31 crore in the year-ago period. Total income fell to Rs 6,190.94 crore for the quarter, compared with Rs 7,125.20 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. With regard to exposure of the insurance firm to debt- ridden IL&FS group companies, Khuntia said, the regulator will ensure that policyholders do not lose money. “Either they get it back fully or they will have to provide for it. Some of the IL&FS companies may be better off. We will find some ways so that policyholders are protected,” he said. Speaking at the event, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and National Health Authority CEO Indu Bhushan said Ayushman Bharat (AB) has benefited 15 lakh people since its launch in September. In 170 days, about Rs 2,000 crore has been spent on providing free health treatment to beneficiaries, he said.last_img read more
